
It happens every day in workshops, production halls, on construction sites or on factory premises: Due to accidents, leaks, repair work, or carelessness, oil in various forms – oil-like substances, oil-based paints and varnishes, hydrophobic solvents, certain coolants, blood, or chemicals – spills and contaminates hall floors, asphalt, or even water surfaces. This poses a significant safety risk! Furthermore, cleanup is often complicated and expensive.
In many cases, employees and companies are prepared and can contain or eliminate the contamination using various binding agents. However, anyone who has already worked with these binding agents will have noticed that they have some disadvantages.
Either conventional binders weigh several kilograms per unit during transport, produce dust when distributed, are difficult to incorporate into the contaminant or absorb insufficiently, or leave residual residues on the surface during removal.
Often, little attention is paid to the composition of the binding agents, which usually contain more chemical components than the mixture they are meant to absorb. Do you know what your current binding agent consists of? What chemical components it may contain and what potentially complex production processes are required to manufacture it? The complexity and cost of disposal, as well as the overall environmental impact of the process, may also be overlooked.
The good news: There is a great alternative to the binders currently on the market! OILEX is an innovative, purely organic binder made from a natural fiber without any artificial or chemical additives. It can be used on a wide variety of surfaces and on water. A huge advantage is its low weight of approximately 120 g/l. The binder is very easy for the user to apply: simply sprinkle it on and work it in with a broom. The fibers encapsulate the absorbed substances and do not release them, even under increased pressure.
1 kg of OILEX binds 2.84l of oil. The surface is then residue-free, regains a grip strength of approximately 96%, and requires no further treatment. OILEX can subsequently be disposed of cost-effectively, for example, via a thermal process.
