Use Case 1: Cooling of control cabinets without contamination – heat pump

THE CASE: The plant engineer of a textile manufacturer in southeastern Germany faced a widespread and persistent problem: his control panels became contaminated. Dust particles and lint in the air of his factory were drawn into the control cabinets by the fan cooling system, disrupting the controlled production speed.

SOLUTION: A cost-effective, high-efficiency compressed air heat pump was used to address both the heat generation and contamination problems. The heat pump enabled fan cooling without drawing air into the console and ensured a seal against the contaminated environment.

The power consumption of the 220 Volt / 50Hz heat pump was 0.28 Amperes; it offers comparable effortless installation and maintenance options to a fan and is considerably cheaper than air conditioning.

SUMMARY: Removing the blow-through fan and installing an airtight heat pump eliminates production problems caused by contamination. The heat pump can be used in sealed enclosures to cool electronics that need protection from airborne contaminants.

Use Case 2: Ensuring the reliability of test indicators – refrigeration pump

THE CASE: Automatic transmissions typically undergo a final inspection focusing on torque, shift characteristics, and vibration. The test sequence is controlled and monitored by a series of computers and process control systems located on the factory floor. Overheating of this process during the summer months led to reliability issues with the test indicators, rendering a critical quality control function unusable.

SOLUTION: A VORTEC chiller was mounted on each of the computer cases to cool them with compressed air. The chiller has two closed air circulation systems (as shown in the drawing). Only clean, cooled, and dry air circulates inside the cabinet, keeping dirt and contaminants away from the sensitive control units. The chiller's compact design allowed for effortless installation; repositioning the cases was not necessary. Thanks to immediate availability from stock and simple installation instructions, the test setup was operational again within a day.
