ProtEX Vortex A/C coolers are specifically designed for purged* electrical enclosures in IECEx, ATEX zones 1 and 21, UL class I, Div. 1 (Groups A, B, C and D), Class II, Div. Designed for 1 (groups F and G), class III and temperature class T3.

The ProtEX Vortex A/C units are available in 4 different cooling capacities: 900, 1500, 2500 and 5,000 BTU/h. All Vortec enclosure coolers keep electrical and electronic enclosures cool, clean, and protected. They are a cost-effective alternative to expensive, maintenance-intensive air conditioning systems. Furthermore, they prevent contamination from dirty, humid air caused by fans. Today's small, compact electronic multifunction controllers, variable speed drives, servos and programmable logic controllers are extremely sensitive to heat and contamination. Smaller housing sizes make temperature control more difficult and lead to premature failures. Excessive heat leads to incorrect digital displays, deviations in controls, and the tripping of circuit breakers below the rated load. The result is a loss of productivity due to machine or line failures. ProtEX Vortex case coolers maintain a slight pressure inside the case to keep electrical and electronic components clean and dry. Most are thermostatically controlled to keep the case temperatures within a specific temperature range.
The ProtEX models come with a 3-year warranty. We recommend replacing the product after 3 years, as it contains an internal part (a one-way valve on the hot exhaust) with a limited lifespan. A failure or malfunction of this internal part does not affect the product's classification for potentially explosive atmospheres. However, after 3 years the part may lose its functionality and the cooling performance and noise level may deteriorate.
